32nd Annual Gateway Classic – Waterloo, IL (near St. Louis, MO)

The 2019 Gateway Classic, the 32nd Annual, will be held May 26th, 2019, at Konarcik Park in beautiful Waterloo, Illinois. This is the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, and as usual, there will be a weekend of activities.
On Saturday, throwers can warm up during the day. Saturday evening, everyone heads back over to Chicago Bob’s house on the other side of Waterloo for dinner, a few beverages, and catching up with boomerang friends on the patio and in the pool (bring a swimsuit – Speedos not allowed!).
Sunday morning, the tournament starts at 8:00 am with signups, and practice for the first event will start by 8:30 am. The competition runs all day, and afterward everyone heads back to Chicago Bob’s place for dinner and awards.
Monday typically finds throwers back at the field trying to retrieve boomerangs from the treetops, but there could be more throwing as well if folks are interested.
This is a great tournament for beginners to come and experience competitive throwing. The laid-back vibe on the field, and social times at Chicago Bob’s, makes this a prime opportunity to throw with, learn from, and get to know the veterans of the sport.
Other highlights of the weekend include trophies for everyone, two dinners and a tournament for probably around $25-$30, and really tall trees that are really near where your boomerangs may fly!
