USBA Covid-19 Tournament participation rules:

Tournament Director and Staff:
Above all else any and all local jurisdiction rules regarding Covid-19 must be met and enforced.
This does mean that if the local jurisdiction says “No group activities over ‘X” number of people, and we have ‘X’ number of people. Either the tournament is a no go, or the number of participants must be reduced.
As an example. These are the current State of Ohio rules for Non-contact sporting events. These are appropriate to post here since the first two tournaments of the year are in Ohio: https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/static/responsible/General-Non-Contact-Sports.pdf

On site sanitation must be provided: Restrooms, running water/hand washing station, hand soap, hand sanitizer, etc.
Box of disposable masks on site for those who don’t come with one.
Box of disposable gloves
Spray bottle of sanitizer and paper towels for disinfecting any common surfaces. Or sanitizing wipes as an alternate.
Infrared thermometer, similar to but does not have to be this exact one: https://smile.amazon.com/Berrcom-No-Contact-Infrared-Thermometer-Multifunctional/dp/B087FR1272/ref=psdc_166862011_t2_B0897QSXSL
One central person (TD or other volunteer), should be the only person to use and touch the thermometer. Unless it can be sanitized between uses, or all people using it wear disposable gloves.
Common surfaces (restroom or porta potty doors and handles, tables, chairs etc.) should be sanitized at start, middle and end of day.
Scoresheets/scoring: Paper scoresheets have issues, if used all scores must be written down and tabulated by a central scorekeeper to minimize transference.

Signage: Signs must be posted at field perimeter asking spectators to kindly keep social distance and wear masks if they want to come interact with throwers, ask questions, etc.

Teaching and interacting with the public:
Any boomerangs and equipment used for teaching must be sanitized in between uses.
Any tournament staff member, or thrower who interacts with the public must wear a mask and maintain social distance.

Participants (Throwers):
All participants must submit for and pass an infrared temperature check at start of day and sign the USBA liability release wavier. Anyone with a temperature over 100.1*, or who refuses to sign the wavier or submit for temperature check cannot participate and must leave the event venue.
One central person (TD or other volunteer), should be the only person to use and touch the thermometer. Unless it can be sanitized between uses, or all people using it wear gloves.
Participants must all have and present their own individual stop watch at registration.

Efforts by all participants and spectators to maintain 6’ Social distancing must be made.
This sadly means no (bare handed) high fives, chest bumping, celebratory hugs, etc.
Briefly walking past other persons or throwers when moving to range spot, take your turn, etc is ok.

When warming up, range spotting, circle judging, not competing, masks must be worn anytime you are closer than 3 meters (About 13 feet) to others.
If you do not desire to wear a mask when it is your turn in any event you do not need to wear a mask. To be clear this is for your live, scored, throwing turn.
This rule could be problematic during warm up for Trick Catch and MTA due to the sometimes high amount of movement. If in any doubt, mask up!
During on field lunch we encourage keeping a minimum of 6’ apart, 13’ or more is better. Family groups are OK to cluster together.

No paired throwing in Accuracy or Aussie Round as there is no way to maintain a proper 6’ distance.
Because you are not actively sharing a bullseye, paired throwing in Trick Catch could be allowed if participants feel they can maintain 6’ of distance. However, if any participant is not comfortable throwing in a pair for TC, no throwers should as it changes the rhythm of the event.

No sharing of equipment: Stopwatches, sunglasses, boomerangs, etc. Unless it has been sanitized in between uses.
Sharing of coolers is problematic. Please sanitize the cooler handles, and your hands if you choose to share a cooler
No sharing of beverages and other food items.

Wash your hands early, wash them often:
Before and after eating
Sanitize before going to restroom, wash after.
If you handle items of “unknown” origin.
Etc

Use your common sense! Speak up if there is anything happening you don’t think is appropriate.

Spectators/thrower family members and friends:
Spectators should maintain social distance. If they want to interact with the throwers and tournament staff they should wear a mask.

Any spectator who is blatantly not following common sense or local jurisdiction social distancing rules, or visibly showing signs of illness should immediately be asked to leave the venue.
