2022 US Boomerang Team Trials

We are just under one month to go! I wanted to let everyone know that and to remind you that if coming from out of town to please RSVP soon! The local bed spaces I know of are filling fast. Right now it look like we will have a field of 20-25 people. The USBA has requested permission to bring as many as three full teams and our youth group. So there will be some competition for all the available spots!

We will be following the recently announced French order of events. This will be nice as it will engrain that order in our brains and set us up for a good start to that tournament in August!

In addition, I am requesting help to source a volunteer to act as head scorekeeper. This is someone who should be a non-competitor. Having someone in this position will be critical to keeping the tournament moving smoothly and quickly, as they can take care of that work while events are ongoing. I can provide a laptop to use, Jason’s spreadsheet from previous Trials, table and chair for workspace, etc. If you are interested in this, or know someone who could be, please reach out to me directly.

Order of events, for day one, Friday April 22nd:

  1. Day one, Friday April 22nd:
  2. Endurance Relay
  3. 30M Relay
  4. Aussie Round
  5. LUNCH
  6. Supercatch: Everyone will get one timed MTA throw, and 3 fast catch sessions with a randomly selected time to simulate a “Good” “Average” and “short” MTA throw.
  7. Trick Catch/Doubling
  8. Group Dinner, venue TBD

Day two, Saturday April 23rd:

  1. Accuracy
  2. Endurance
  3. Aussie Round
  4. LUNCH
  5. 30M Relay
  6. MTA Relay
  7. Group Dinner, venue TBD

Day three, Sunday April 24th: We will likely attempt to throw from morning until lunchtime, then stop to tabulate final scores and determine the teams. As such I will move Supercatch into the morning, because it is a more critical event to participate in.

  1. Supercatch
  2. Endurance Relay
  3. 30M Relay
  4. Trick Catch (If there is time)
  5. LUNCH AND TEAM SELECTION!
  6. Final dinner, location TBD, and start airport runs

Unless we are provided an updated rule book before Trials. We will be using the 2018 IFBA rule book. All competitors are subject to that, and to normal USBA thrower conduct rules.

Again, a reminder that everyone planning on attending Trials, and then going to the WBC need to study and be aware of any Covid related travel restrictions. A lot of that specific information can be found here.

That’s all for now folks. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone and getting boomerangs back in swing!
