DWBT 2023 Post Tournament Report

The Second First Annual Dallas Winter Boomerang Tournament was a great success (to learn about that joke you have to come to the next one lol). Though cool and a bit breezy, it was typical January weather for Dallas and just right for long distance on Sunday.

A ragged collection of ruffians made the trip to Dallas… “Chicago” Bob & Lisa, Betsylew and Will, the Bower towers of power, George Essig, Jason Smucker, Kenny Barr, David Hirsch, Mark Legg, Rick Saidenberg, newbies Rob Lutz and Tommy Gruchala (though technically Tommy’s not a true newbie since he made nationals last year), David Radcliffe made it for some of the events because of prior commitments, Tom Luczycki and Sam Lemay.

Because of the weather, I made a decision to flip events slightly so we did all individual events on Saturday and long distance on Sunday. And with the winds fairly breezy on Sunday we threw two rounds of five throws of long distance rather than attempt team events.

We had burgers Friday night then Texas barbecue on Saturday night and Tex-Mex on Sunday night with Awards. The overall order is posted below. And I want to give a spectacular shout out to two great sponsors, Dean Helfer of Channel Craft and Richard Harrison of theboomerangman.com  Without their generous sponsorship tournament entry fees would’ve been much higher. So put it on your calendar, folks, the Third First Annual Dallas Winter Boomerang Tournament is planned for the third weekend of January 2024… Be there or be square 🙂
